"Intrigue at Burton Castle": a mystery book with unusual characters

This is a book for children 12 years and older, but if they are smaller and enjoy reading, and especially if they like mystery as a theme, it will also be very appropriate.

Its protagonists are Igni (or what is the same: Ignacio), his older sister Barbara, his parents and Count Tibor, who as a neighbor is the most peculiar, and also gets along very well with the family. Igni's father is a dedicated investigator who investigates curious things (not to mention strangers), and the rest of the family they are a handful of characters with a lot of personality, which help each other, and especially that they possess certain supernatural powers that they have more or less learned to control.

Finally, I am going to skip all the prolegonians and I tell you that they are leaving unexpectedly on a trip to a castle near Scotland because Ramon (the father) has been required by a nobleman to decipher some scrolls.

With them goes also the neighbor (as if it were a stowaway, and you will understand this when you read it), and two university students who are going to help Igni's father

It is an entertaining story with ghosts in battlements, love intrigues among the youngest, and a Burton descendant that hides more than it shows. Ah! one detail is that the ghost speaks ancient Gaelic So even Barbara who knows this language has a hard time understanding him.

There is also Fiona, who is seen coming and who pretends to be Burton's niece, and a last character that remains hidden (or perhaps they keep it), and whom you have to meet.

If Áurea (the mother) thought she was going to Edinburgh to meet some friends and get out of the monotony, when she returns to the castle she finds a panorama not boring, and rather tense until they manage to release the captive.

“Intrigue at Burton Castle” has been written by Natalia Demidoff, who is already retired but still writing; and illustrated by Bié, illustrator of stories, comics and magazines. Published by Edebé this year in the Tucán Rojo collection, it costs 8.60 euros.
