Are children altruistic by nature?

Altruism, perhaps the basis of what we know as moral, is the ability to collaborate selflessly with others. It can be an interesting evolutionary resource to favor the survival of our fellow human beings but, Are altruistic children by nature?

This video, which is a fragment of the Networks chapter "We are primates (II)" shows us an experiment, conducted by the primatologist Pablo Herreros, who seems to show us that yes, that the children have an altruistic and collaborative behavior, even before having acquired the language and being completely socialized through it.

Little Luisa, a human puppy, despite knowing Pablo, is willing to help him solve a problem, without being asked to do so and without waiting or reward, or fear punishment if he does not. Pure natural generosity, which has nothing to do with our being forced to share their toys.

I have to say that I increasingly like the work of Pablo Herreros, the primatolge who runs the page We are primates, extraordinary lecturer and habitual collaborator of Eduard Punset.

I will bring you more jobs in which sapiens sapiens children show us their abilities, as in this case that they have taught us their natural altruism, and soon, I hope to offer you an interview with Pablo Herreros on this and other topics.
