Carnival 2014: how to make a clownfish costume for children

I still have time to make a proposal for the Carnival 2014. This year the design has thought about it, made it and the little one is going to wear it. Again, as a couple of years ago with the poker card, it's about taking advantage of a big bag that can be decorated to become a original and cheap costume from clownfish.

The assembly is very simple because it is about recreate the typical colors and stripes of the clownfish with a colored card. The cards are attached to the garbage bag with staples and the stripes are decorated with pieces of cardboard of different color, my daughter says they are fish scales. In addition, and to make his own mark, he has decorated his shoulders with the clownfish to help his teammates identify it. The ends of the bands have left them with wavy shapes to simulate between the movement of the sea and the wave of the clownfish swimming. In addition, and does not appear in the image, a cardboard has been made in the form of wrist bracelet and that simulate the fish fins. He has given him time to make one so I have told him that if he doesn't have time to do the other one dressed as Nemo.

The materials are: a community garbage bag in any color, in this case it is blue like the sea. We do not recommend this costume for young children because it can be dangerous. A pair of orange and beige cardstocks, glue / staples and scissors.

The first thing is to cut the bag with the shape of the neck (try to measure that it enters through the head) by the part that is closed since the open part will help us to take out the feet and that they can move freely. Then on the sides we make another cut so that they can put their arms. The next step is to make the central square that carries the scales and stripes of the fish.

To complete it we can put the kids under some narrow pants or tights if it is not very cold in black or navy blue and for the arms, well covered with long and dark sleeves, the fins made with excess material of the stripes. The good thing about the costume is that underneath they can be very warm. We hope you like it, enjoy it and have some good carnival parties.
