The child has to exercise, even in winter

A mother from my daughters' school told me a few days ago that in winter they barely move from the house because of the cold, that when they start to get better weather they are encouraged to go out for bike rides or hiking.

It is true that you feel more like staying at home warm but physical activity is as necessary for the child's health as eating, does not depend on the season of the year. The child has to exercise, even in winter.

Physical activity brings great benefits. Among them, it strengthens bones and muscles, essential in children in full development, improves motor skills and promotes socialization.

Contrary to what you might believe, that when you go out to play outdoors you will catch a cold, the practice of exercise helps to strengthen the body's defenses. Sedentary children are more likely to have colds, colds and flu in the winter, however, those who are accustomed to doing activities are more resistant to the viruses they swarm at this time of year.

Of course, we cannot forget that the practice of exercise is linked to a balanced diet. Doing physical activity helps prevent obesity problems in children, one of the great evils of our time.

Of course, the example we give parents is fundamental for them. If we move, they will too. Therefore, even if it's cold outside, I encourage you to get warm and go out to exercise as a family. In Spain we have the advantage of having some great sunny days in winter that we can take advantage of to go out.

This does not mean that you point the children to some sport, that if they wish they would be great, but you can also exercise without needing it. Even if it's not as a game. Jump rope, take a bike ride, play catcher, run a ball, go hiking ...

There are many activities we can do with children when it is cold. Exercise is a habit that can not be missed in childhood. The child has to exercise, even in winter.
