The first national food survey in children and adolescents is underway

Eating habits have not only changed in recent decades, also in recent years there have been significant changes that should be analyzed. Therefore the first national food survey in children and adolescents will be carried out.

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan), under the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, has begun work to carry out a survey that aims to know exactly the type of food and the amounts consumed minors

In this way, detailed information on the habits of food consumption in this population group will be obtained. This survey comes to complete another one conducted by Aesan between 2009 and 2010 in the adult population.

In the ENALIA survey (National Food Survey for Children and Adolescents), which will begin this spring, 1700 children and adolescents, from six months to 17 years of age from all Autonomous Communities will participate.

With the results obtained you can guide healthy habits promotion policies, and the study will also contribute to scientific research on exposure to chemical substances through food.

The truth is that without knowing results, and with the data that comes from other research, it is known that the eating habits of children (such as their families) are not too healthy. But it will be interesting to know the data of this survey nationwide.

We will have to wait to know the results of the first national food survey in children, since it is planned to be made public in the second half of 2014. We will be attentive, because surely they will give much to talk on our pages.
