Do parents influence the musical taste of their children?

Whether or not parents can mold their children's musical taste is a question that many parents ask themselves, especially those who want to convey their same preferences for certain types of music.

It happens a bit like the football team. Almost all parents want their children to inherit their fondness for the same shirt, but they don't always succeed. In the case of music is similar, there is an innate desire for children to enjoy the same kind of music as them, but Do parents influence the musical taste of their children?

Making them listen to the music we like, or that we want them to like, is no guarantee that tomorrow they prefer that kind of music.

In short, personal taste, lived experiences, and their own personality makes each one choose the music they like. It is even common to prefer different styles throughout life, according to each stage of life.

There are those who believe that the tastes cannot be imposed on children, but they can be guided to transmit certain musical influences. The truth is that there are children who enjoy the influences inherited from their parents and others who do not.

For most parents, the desire to form a child's taste is based on something positive: sharing what they love. There is no intention of arbitrarily imposing a preference, but the important thing, I think, is that they have freedom to choose, both in music and in any other aspect of life.

It is not about imitating parents, but about finding their own way, and as parents we must encourage and accompany them so that they know how to choose freely.

I remember my childhood with background tangos. At the time I liked it, maybe to please my parents, but today I don't like tango at all. Whatever the parents do, the children will find their own taste.

How was your experience? You Do you think parents influence their children's musical taste?
