These days we celebrate the 'right to play'

Did you know that playing is a right of children? And what traditional games help to improve bad behavior? Surely you remember those pleasant moments of your childhood in which your only occupation was 'play'But are you aware that your children need it too?

In Peques and Más we have presented Give Time to the Game, a website for parents that promotes the benefits of children's play. And we have also told you that playing gives children creativity, improving emotional ties with their peers, and developing their psychomotor skills.

We believe both the need to promote the game and a need (in addition to a right) that we have told you that more than a third of children over 9 years play less than an hour a day. However, the little ones still have a lot of time ahead to develop this healthy activity, whether it is the parents who promote play spaces, as in the cases in which the grandparents become their companions.

And today I have to tell you that next Monday May 28In addition to celebrating International Nutrition Day, the Game will also be given importance. And although sometimes we get lost with so many 'days of', it's good emphasize everything that is beneficial for our children.

In the 'manifesto' published within “Game Day” you can read that:

The game is an essential activity for the development of the individual such as education, food or health.

If children and young people could grow in the joy of the game they would become adults with greater physical and mental health and the playful attitude would always accompany them.

The game is a valuable tool to generate a better society, encouraging communication between people, deepening the relationships of individuals in a community and reconciling antagonistic positions.

The game enhances creativity and talent, stimulating the possibility of seeing things in different ways, favoring open minds, fueling the ability to transform concepts and imagine new perspectives.

The game directly affects the development of emotional intelligence: the ability to control emotions, to motivate oneself, the recognition of the emotions of others and the control of relationships

As an example of activities scheduled for this reason (in this agenda you have more events), I will tell you that during this weekend and in Barcelona, the 'spring festival' is celebrated in 25 open school playgrounds in the city. Thus, families, children and young people can participate in the party in the Open Schoolyards in the neighborhood with traditional games, cooperative games, world games, giant games ...

And in the Alicante municipality of Sant Vicent del Raspeig, the company Cayro the Ganes, invites all those who approach the Torrent park from 16.30, to enjoy the 'games of a lifetime' (recreational games, spinning tops, parcheesi, etc). And this programming takes place under the slogan 'Yes we play'

¿What can we do families? if we don't have any activity related to the game near our house? Surely you will find a moment to take a ride with your children by bicycle, and also surely that children do not mind taking their toys to the street to share them with the neighborhoods. And what about taking a pack of colored chalk to paint and a bag of marbles to the park?

Happy Game Day!
