Birthday games for toddlers

I promised you that I would dedicate some articles to give guidelines to celebrate the “birthday” of children at home, I hope you can also contribute me a lot. Surely among our readers we have true experts at these parties that children like so much.

It only turns years once every 365 days (or 366 if the year is leap) right? So at least the party should be very special. It does not matter if it is done in a small apartment, in a park, in the recreational area or in a townhouse, and it also does not matter if the guests are 3 or 13, the goal is to give the little one their anniversary party to remember a lot of love

Celebrating your birthday at home is a saving measure because with a little ingenuity you can feed many children, and it is also an intense experience for parents to whom the smile of their children at the end compensates for fatigue and nerves .

It would be logical that I would have started with the invitations, the guests or the decoration (the hours I have dedicated to making homemade cards), but I have a much better time thinking 'what games can children play', so there it goes:

I will provide some strategies to entertain guests without having to make many preparations in advance, if you feel like reading this post you can make other contributions.

Proposals for young children:

1.-Indoor and outdoor games

, I have thought about activities that can be done in every house, and also in larger spaces.

* The telegramDo you remember when you played as children? You just need to make room in the classroom and ask the children to sit in a circle on the floor. The dynamic is simple, the one who starts the game tells his partner on the right a simple phrase that has more than six words ("the trees give very red apples"). The sentence goes from ear to ear and as it is pronounced between whispers the content is finally distorted, so that the result finally becomes quite incomprehensible and can end up in something like “give them a wet cup”. For six or more children.

* The spiderweb, again it will be enough with the living room, but this time you will not remove all the furniture, although it is convenient that you have stored delicate objects. You need a ball of wool that you can tie to the leg of a chair, then you will be weaving around backs, legs and cushions to form a very large spider web with wide spaces between the threads. The children will try to cross it without their bodies touching the wool, because if so, the spider (one of them) could "eat his victim" and this would take the place of arachnid. For two or more children.

* Can you put the tail on the donkey?, a timeless classic that has been fun for children for decades. You need a continuous roll of paper of five meters from which you will cut one and a half, in this piece you draw a donkey without a tail (do not come to me now with which you do not know how to draw because all the potatoes improve our pencil skills in hand when our children are born), You also have to make a “tail” with pieces of wool of 30 or 40 cm knotted at one end. Where the tail would go in the drawing you have to put a piece of adhesive tape.

The paper is placed on the wall (if you do not want chipped, use duct tape in small pieces because it has less adhesive than heat), or door. In turn, the eyes of the participants should be bandaged and placed in front of the donkey with the tail in hand, they will try to place the tail in the exact place and the partners will help them with “up, up, even more” or “¡a your right! ” For five or more children.

* Let's fry some frittersMaterials: pieces of light paper (folios or patent paper) in two colors, pencil, scissors, chalk (or opaque adhesive tape). You have to cut approximately (and according to the participants) about 20 fritters on paper (20 of each color) and draw with chalk or tape two circles 50 cm in diameter (on the ground), separated by approximately one meter, but at the same height as the room You must also mark a starting line for each team, about 50 cm. of the circles and leave in front of the lines all the fritters. The participants are divided into teams and in turn a representative of each group stands on their knees and crouched in front of the fritters, it is a matter of blowing to try to take them to the circles (which are pans), it is not worth using hands. For eight or more children.

Adults can limit themselves to providing materials and giving precise indications, although children can also organize themselves, we will be pending in case of irresolvable conflicts. The rules are decided by the group by consensus and are given before starting to play to avoid situations such as "but since when is the last one saved in the hiding place allowed to free his teammates?"

2.-Outdoor games only:

* Follow the king, all children are placed in a row after the “king” (figure that one of them will take in turns). They must follow and imitate their movements. For five or more children.

* English hideout, again a classic dusting of our childhood memory. There are plenty of explanations, or so I think. For six or more children.

* Who has the tail, hunts the harePieces of two-colored lining fabric are needed, the tails will be and the participants will hang them from the back pockets of the pants. The "three" will start running all trying to "steal" the tails of others, and trying not to take their own. The team with the most tails has won, in short, the ones with the most hares have hunted. For 10 or more children.

* Chain, the players are links and before beginning you must define the space through which they can run. It is decided who starts the game and everyone is around him, after counting to five everyone must start running in all directions (without going beyond the limits), while the child in the center tries to catch or touch them. If he succeeds, he adds “links” that are taken from his hands and everyone keeps looking for more without letting go, the last “survivor” is the one who has the right to be an animator in the next game. For 10 or more children.

  • And of course they can play riddles, Chinese shadows ... also dance, or dress up. They themselves will tell you if they accept your proposals or prefer to organize themselves, because they may just want to spend all afternoon competing with the Scalextric and are super happy as well.

I continue on Monday with games for big children (from nine years old). Enjoy the weekend.
