In the library I have been able to browse with my oldest daughter a little book that I recommend for the first readers. Is about "Rita y Morro", an illustrated story starring a girl and her dog who live their first adventure through a rhymed text.
Little Rita is a grumpy girl full of imagination but very horny. In this first book of the series, Rita celebrates her birthday and meets the one who will be her best friend, her dog Morro, homely, fearful and lazy. Two very different characters are found in stories with a simple style, with simple illustrations in red and black that remind me of the beautiful book "Charlie, tin nose".
The text is minimal, and appears rhymed for the most part. The protagonists of the stories, therefore, are the drawings in an almost childish line.
The author of the stories is Jean-Philippe Arrou, and the illustrations are by Olivier Tallec. There are two titles of these illustrated stories, "Rita and Morro" and "Rita and Morro go to school", also with Catalan edition. They are published in hardcover by Serres and cost 8'50 euros.
