A campaign promoted by a father claims changing tables for babies in public toilets

Changing diapers is not only a matter for moms, dads also change diapers. At this point in the game, nobody doubts that co-responsibility in childcare is shared and that there are no tasks that are of one or the other. Nonetheless, It's hard to find baby changing tables in men's public restrooms, or at least not as easy as finding them in women's.

There are many parents who claim that this is equal, because they also go out with their children and have the right to have a clean and conditioned place to be able to change their babies comfortably. Therefore, they have launched a campaign under the hashtag #Squatforchange (in Spanish, squatting for change) so that this really changes definitely.

The founder of the movement is Donte Palmer (@ 3boys_1goal), a father of three children from Florida whose photo changing his baby in a male bathroom in dire conditions (the one we see below), went viral.

This is a serious post Whats the deal with not having changing tables in mens bathroom as if we dont exist #FLM #fatherslivesmatter clearly we do this often because look how comfortable my son is. In Babies and more "I'm getting sick of having to change my daughter in a disgusting floor": a father demands changers in men's bathrooms

A claim that is not new

One of the most famous promoters of this change is the actor Ashton Kutcher, who in 2015 published in their social networks that “there are NEVER diaper changers in the public toilets of men.” This triggered a movement to achieve it and a signature collection was created to make it possible.

The movement has the support of many parents of the world really committed to produce a change, a change that is slowly happening. On the official website Squat for change you can see the new change stations that are installed in the bathrooms of men in restaurants, cinemas, shopping centers and other public places.

In New York City, a bill was passed a few months ago that requires all men's public restrooms to have baby changing tables, in order to guarantee fathers the same hygiene and comfort conditions that mothers have .

Hopefully the movement will spread and soon it is not strange that both public and women's public restrooms have hygienic and accessible facilities so that moms and dads alike can change their babies in the best conditions.
